Summer Study Ramblings…

I am working through the Standard Lesson Quarterly this summer…The theme is Christian commitment in today’s world…a word i needed… i am teaching my children at home with the David C. Cook Echoes curriculum. I love it! I think I might change to Echoes in the fall…or if good willing, do both! I like to order through a single vendor, so this is one of the reasons why I might change to Echoes. I like Standard, and I like ordering through However, Echoes is not available through — I could order directly from DCC. However, I do like Heartshaper by Standard …should I switch the kids over?? Who knows…(GOD knows! :P) I like using curriculums at home because all the information is at my fingertips! However, in Sunday school, I like to prepare my own materials…what do you do??

Summer is approaching…are you planning for VBS??

Aaah, summer is quickly approaching!

It is time to get ready for more casual Christian ed experiences, such as VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL!!  There is a lot of discussion as to whether VBS is a thing of the past, but I know that in some havecome to expect a VBS program each year, so why disappoint?? There are lots of curriculum plans available, I wonder what is popular this year. is one of my favorite places to order from, but here is a quick list of other sources for VBS curriculum plans:

Will you be purchasing a curriculum plan or writing your own?  I have a few tips I will share in another post regarding selecting a curriculum, as well as tips for writing your own curriculum.  STAY TUNED!

Here is a good post of tips for Vacation Bible School.

Another trend that I have noticed is recreational ministry, including camping experiences.   I have not had much experience with this, but please share your own experiences.
